Teastone Mixc, the fourth store of the Tea'Stone brand, is a new concept store that aims to redefine pure tea consumption in China. The challenge was to maintain the brand's existing business logic, meet the iterative demand of function and market, and distinguish itself from a multitude of similar brands. The solution was a unique blend of traditional and contemporary design elements.
Min Liu, the chief designer, took inspiration from oriental aesthetics and traditional Chinese architecture. The spiritual core of the design is the traditional beams and eaves, which are outlined in a contemporary, simple tea space. The space exudes warmth, delicacy, and sophistication, creating an immersive consumption space. This design approach, combined with the "one person, one seat" tea drinking method, transforms tea consumption into a beautiful way of life.
The store's unique properties lie in its material selection and layout. The main materials used are wood grain aluminum broad, recycled stone, texture coating, composite wood floor, and glass. The two 16-meter-long bars under the crossbeam display the ancient methods of Han and Tang Dynasties and modern technology, presenting the best state of each kind of tea. The open seat layout, simple lines, and moderate sense of wood enrich the space level and cater to different consumer groups.
Despite the store's narrow location on the second-floor platform of Shenzhen Mixc Shopping Mall, Min Liu managed to overcome the challenge of visibility and accessibility. The design draws attention to the space and guides consumers to the store. The interior space design follows the brand's consistent way of innovation, achieving a clean temperament with a younger and more timely visual presentation.
The Teastone Mixc store is a testament to Min Liu's innovative design approach, which combines tradition and modernity. The store was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, a recognition given to designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. This award-winning design is a perfect example of how traditional culture and spirit can be reborn and continued in the contemporary era.
